Superintendent I, Oxygen Production
Job Description
To manage the execution of all production and maintenance work within the Oxygen Plant in support of oxygen production. The incumbent supervises specialists and the scope of this role includes the production, organization, and coordination of the Oxygen Plant, as well as the completion of daily, monthly, and annual output tasks. Key responsibilities include delivering the Construction and Trial Operation plan, implementing the Oxygen Plant maintenance operating plan, driving effective problem solving and continuous improvement, and functioning as an Oxygen Plant maintenance subject matter expert. The role also involves coordinating, monitoring, and supervising the performance of direct reports, monitoring costs to achieve efficiencies, supporting the Transformation agenda, integrating HSEQ into all work processes, and adhering to and improving reporting processes for the area of responsibility. The position requires working under pressure in a technical environment with a focus on team leadership and change management.
Requirements
Bachelor of Engineering in electrical, mechanical engineering, cryogenic engineering, thermal and power; at least 5 years’ relevant experience in Oxygen Plant preferably in a smelter operation; proficiency in business English is mandatory; knowledge of French and Swahili will be considered highly advantageous; energy knowledge; engineering knowledge; production knowledge; safety and security knowledge; operation, control and maintenance of oxygen production; troubleshooting; smelting methodologies; ability to deal with emergencies in the plant; DRC Legislature knowledge; problem-solving; analytical and systematic approach; leadership and managerial/organization skills; risk awareness and management; communication skills (verbal, written, report writing, presentation, and facilitation); flexibility and adaptability; resilience and ability to work under pressure; team building capability and teamwork; change management skills; stress management; technical orientation.
