Business Support Assistant – Logistics

The Business Support Assistant – Logistics will support receipt and dispatch of commodities, including transshipment operations, ensuring accuracy in physical counts and compliance with established standards. The role involves assisting the Warehouse Manager with logistics and warehouse operations, managing commodity accounting data integrity, and processing documentation for logistics operations such as customs clearance and invoice verification. Key responsibilities include maintaining proper filing systems for logistics documents, coordinating the movement of food and non-food items, monitoring inventory systems (FIFO/LIFO), delivering WFP waybills, and ensuring efficient stock management and timely reporting. The position requires close collaboration with operational transport, logistics, and programme teams to support humanitarian assistance delivery in Somalia.

Completion of secondary school education or a university degree (Diploma/Bachelor’s) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Economics, Management, or any other related field; At least four (4) years of relevant experience with a Secondary School Certificate, OR University Degree (Diploma/Bachelor’s) with a minimum of two (2) or more years of experience in logistics operations, warehouse and inventory management systems; Hands-on logistics experience with the UN or INGOs is desirable; Fluent knowledge of English and Somali language; Ability to implement warehouse operational procedures and WFP guidelines; Ability to manage WFP inventory effectively using corporate systems; Strong understanding of loss mitigation practices.
