Tissue Culture Scientist
Job Description
Plan and coordinate plant tissue culture and regeneration activities for banana, cassava, and potato. Develop and optimize tissue culture and embryogenic cell suspension protocols. Supervise large-scale multiplication and quality control of in vitro plant materials. Ensure adherence to biosecurity and biosafety standards in all tissue culture processes. Collaborate with research teams to integrate tissue culture techniques into broader agricultural development programs. Maintain detailed records of experimental protocols, results, and quality control measures for regulatory and reporting purposes.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Plant Science, Biotechnology, Agronomy, or a related field; Master's degree or PhD is an added advantage. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in plant tissue culture techniques, including embryogenic cell suspension culture and regeneration protocols. Proficiency in aseptic techniques and laboratory management. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to work in a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of biosecurity and biosafety regulations in agricultural biotechnology is essential.
