National Consultant for WASH Survey in Burundi Cholera Priority Areas
Job Description
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is seeking a National Consultant to provide technical leadership and capacity development for the implementation of a WASH survey in targeted cholera priority areas (PAMIS) in Burundi. The consultant will be responsible for reviewing and refining survey methodology and questionnaires, coordinating with key stakeholders (CSP Regional Programme Manager, COUSP team, Burundi Red Cross), leading training of surveyors, supporting KOBO implementation and data quality control, conducting preliminary and final data analysis, and preparing survey reports with recommendations for local authorities. The role involves a pre-deployment phase (1 week), field deployment in Bujumbura (5 weeks), and post-deployment (2 weeks) for data analysis and reporting. The consultant will also contribute insights to broader GTFCC discussions on WASH/cholera surveys and document methodological lessons learned for future surveys.
Requirements
University graduate degree in WASH or relevant field; University post-graduate degree in relevant field; Minimum 7 years of experience in WASH programming, with specific experience in cholera-endemic settings; Experience with mobile data collection tools, particularly KOBO; Demonstrated capacity to develop and deliver training programs; Previous work in the Great Lakes region of Africa, preferably DRC or Burundi; Experience working with Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement and/or GTFCC partners is preferred; Ability to work in security-sensitive environments is preferred; Fluency in spoken and written French is required; Proven experience in survey design, implementation, and analysis is required.
