Information Management Specialist

Under the overall direction of the Chief of Field Office in Moroto, this role is responsible for ensuring information management processes effectively support a well-coordinated, strategic, and evidence-based response by stakeholders. The Information Management Specialist (Nutrition) leads the collection, analysis, and sharing of critical information to enable informed decision-making. The position involves creating and implementing an information management strategy, data collection, and analysis plans that align with stakeholder needs and ethical data management standards. The role coordinates data quality assurance to ensure accuracy, validity, completeness, consistency, and timeliness, including data processing tasks such as organizing, cleaning, triangulating, evaluating, and validating data. Additionally, the specialist contributes to the preparation of information materials like fact sheets, backgrounders, and data tables, develops infographics and dashboards (including maps) to support UNICEF’s programming and evidence generation, and conducts regular secondary data reviews and primary data collection using appropriate tools. The role maintains and ensures the accessibility of a common and shared secure storage system, actively engages with other information management professionals through relevant working groups and OCHA, and collaborates with stakeholders to identify and bridge information gaps at national and sub-national levels. Close collaboration with the ICT team is required to implement innovative solutions for data collection and dissemination, including the use of AI, mobile phones, and other tools.

Education: Advanced university degree in Information Management, Data Science, Statistics, Public Health, or a related field; or a first-level university degree in the above fields in combination with two additional years of relevant professional experience. Experience: At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field, preferably in a humanitarian or development context. Technical Skills: Proficiency in data management tools, statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R), and database management systems; experience with GIS and mapping tools; familiarity with ethical data management standards and protocols. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages relevant to the region are desirable.
