Job Description
This internship offers ambitious university students the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world banking environment at Standard Bank Group. The role is part of a structured 3-month fixed-term contract program with two intakes: October to December 2026 and January to March 2027. Interns will work under the supervision of experienced procurement professionals, gaining hands-on experience in procurement processes, supply chain management, and strategic sourcing within a leading African financial institution. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams across Core Banking Business, Finance, Human Resources, Digital, Compliance, Technology, and other departments to support procurement activities. Interns will contribute to key deliverables such as vendor management, contract negotiations, procurement documentation, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. The role is designed to provide practical exposure that complements academic learning, fostering skills in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and professional communication in a dynamic financial services environment.
Requirements
University students currently undertaking a bachelor's degree program in their 3rd, 4th, or final year; Available for the entire 3-month duration of the internship; Passion for procurement and supply chain management; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; Attention to detail and commitment to professional development.
