Tanzania Tree Supervisor (Fixed-term)
Job Description
Seeking a high-energy, strategic Tree Supervisor to drive agroforestry and farmer impact initiatives. The role involves planning and executing marketing, enrollment, and distribution strategies across 25ā30 sites to meet annual seedling adoption and planting goals. Responsibilities include partnering with the Agroforestry Specialist to build distribution schedules, training temporary staff, Carbon Credits Officers, and farmers on best practices for seedling care, optimal planting windows, and safe handling during transport. The role also involves leading field mobilization efforts, conducting unannounced field audits to validate data, identifying performance variances, and implementing corrective action plans. Additionally, the Tree Supervisor will lead the execution of tree impact surveys, review training materials, and translate field insights into actionable district training plans. The position requires motivating and managing temporary staff and external stakeholders, fostering a workplace culture rooted in psychological safety, strong customer service, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) values. The role also involves maintaining strict mindfulness of budgets and championing cost-control measures across all areas of field management.
Requirements
Advanced Diploma or equivalent degree in a relevant field; Proven track record in a management or supervisory role with experience leading field teams or external stakeholders; Practical experience in Agriculture, Agroforestry/Tree Farming, or Community Development initiatives; Highly proficient in modern workplace tools, including computers, email clients, and mobile tablet devices for field operations; Ability to handle basic data analysis, interpret field metrics, and translate survey results into actionable insights; Business-proficient written and spoken English with the ability to clearly train staff and write concise operational reports; Citizenship or permanent residency of Tanzania.
