Job Description

Nursing Officer at Penda ensures the best quality of service and excellent patient experience through standardized patient triaging, management of emergencies, best MCH/FP services as well as other out-patient procedures. Primary duties include providing comprehensive and high-quality clinical services such as initial patient assessment, triaging, MCH/FP services, and nursing procedures. The role involves administering IV or IM medications using nursing best practices, ensuring the medical center is always well-stocked with supplies and equipment, and maintaining clean and sterile items for general and emergency cases. The Nursing Officer will serve as an Infection Prevention and Control Champion by implementing IPC best practices and Penda Health’s IPC protocols. Accurate and comprehensive recording of patient data in Penda’s electronic medical record system in real-time is required, along with completing necessary Ministry of Health (MoH) reporting requirements and ensuring timely and accurate submissions. The role includes providing quality patient education, embracing evidence-based medical systems, participating in continuous professional development, and collaborating with the nurse officer in-charge and branch manager to identify areas for process improvement. Additional tasks may be assigned by the branch manager or nursing officer in-charge, and the role emphasizes teamwork and exceeding expectations to ensure teammates enjoy their work. Adherence to all ethical and legal standards of healthcare delivery is mandatory.

Requirements

Diploma in Nursing - KRCHN; Valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK); Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (mandatory); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (added advantage); Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a busy healthcare facility; Demonstrated experience in Maternal and Child Health/Family Planning (MCH/FP); Strong communication skills (written and verbal); Outstanding patient interaction skills; Ability to use electronic health records and digital health tools effectively.
