Country General Manager

Our client, a premier, luxury destination management company, based in East Africa, specializing in custom, high-end safaris across East Africa, is looking for a General Manager for its offices in Tanzania. The Country General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, growth, and profitability of the DMC’s operations within the country. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on operational excellence to ensure exceptional client experiences and sustainable business performance. Knowledge of the Tanzania tourism landscape is a MUST! Key Responsibilities - Develop and execute the country’s business strategy aligned with the company’s overall objectives - Identify growth opportunities, new markets, and product development initiatives - Build and maintain relationships with key international partners, agents, and tour operators - Ensure seamless delivery of all safari programs, itineraries, and services - Oversee supplier relationships (hotels, transport, guides, and experiences) - Manage budgets, forecasts, and P&L accountability - Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing local team - Represent the company in industry forums & tourism boards - Build relationships with government bodies and tourism authorities Key Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Finance, or related field. MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous. - Minimum 8–10 years of senior management experience. - At least 5 years within tourism, hospitality, safari operations, or a DMC environment. - Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams. - Strong financial and commercial management skills. - Strong operational management skills. - Excellent leadership and people development capability. - Financial literacy and budget management.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Finance, or related field; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous; Minimum 8–10 years of senior management experience; At least 5 years within tourism, hospitality, safari operations, or a Destination Management Company (DMC) environment; Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams; Strong financial and commercial management skills; Strong operational management skills; Excellent leadership and people development capability; Financial literacy and budget management.
