Manager, Partnerships (Blended Finance)
Job Description
The Manager, Partnerships will lead AECF’s efforts to secure new funding and build strategic partnerships for AECF Capital, a newly created blended finance vehicle. Primary responsibilities include identifying and pursuing financing opportunities aligned with AECF Capital’s mandate (grant funding, concessional debt, and equity for de-risking), designing catalytic funding approaches with partners such as DFIs and blended finance structures, and managing the full partnership pipeline from lead identification to deal closure. The role involves coordinating cross-functional teams (programs, finance, legal, MEL/impact, communications) to deliver high-quality, compliant partnership engagements, and developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for resource mobilization. Additionally, the role requires maintaining and growing existing fundraising streams, strengthening partner relationships, and representing AECF in stakeholder engagements, sector forums, and donor liaison meetings. The position plays a critical role in packaging results, evidence, and stories into partner-ready materials and implementing comprehensive donor relations strategies.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Development Finance, International Relations, Development Studies, or a relevant field; minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years specifically in strategic partnerships and fundraising from major government donors, multilateral agencies, corporate donors, foundations, and/or DFIs; proven experience in data-driven decision-making and planning for strategic partnerships and resource mobilization; strong networking and relationship-building skills with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders; experience in institutional, foundation, individual, and/or corporate partnership building; familiarity with the international development sector and major public/private donor perspectives; specific experience in blended finance and working with DFIs or concessional capital providers; familiarity with fundraising in the impact investments space; strong team and project management skills; high degree of initiative, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; excellent writing and communication skills; fluency in English and French is required.
