Research Assistant - Community Health and Social Medicine

The Research Assistant will support the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) in conducting community health and social medicine research initiatives. Primary responsibilities include assisting in the design and implementation of research studies, collecting and analyzing data, and contributing to the development of research reports and publications. The role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including public health professionals, clinicians, and community health workers, to address critical health challenges in Rwanda and the broader East African region. The Research Assistant will also assist in disseminating research findings to stakeholders and supporting grant writing efforts to secure additional funding for community health projects. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research that directly impacts global health equity.

Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Epidemiology, or a related field; minimum of 2 years of experience in community health research or a related field; proficiency in data collection and analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Stata, or R); strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda; experience working in rural or underserved communities; familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies; ability to work independently and as part of a team; commitment to health equity and social justice.
