ACS Intern on Data Analysis

The African Centre for Statistics (ACS) is seeking an intern to support statistical data compilation and analysis, economic data management, and harmonization. The role involves assisting in compiling metadata from national and international statistical websites, contributing to the creation of statistical tools to automate analytical processes, and providing insights on modern visualization tools for statistical results. The intern will prepare statistical summaries, including methods and key findings, and support dashboard and data tool support, documentation, and reporting. The position is under the direct supervision of the Director of the African Centre for Statistics and involves contributing to capacity-building and training activities. Expected results include organized and standardized datasets, timely preparation of analytical outputs, improved documentation, and strengthened support for ongoing analytical and statistical work.

Education: Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); OR be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent); completion of a master’s degree or enrolment in a Ph.D. program in a development-related field is strongly desirable. Language: Fluency in spoken and written English is required; knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage. Experience: No prior work experience required. Additional: Familiarity with data analysis tools and statistical software is beneficial.
