Laboratory Technologist

The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technologist to support research activities focused on infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV, and Tuberculosis. The role involves performing a wide range of laboratory tests, maintaining equipment, ensuring compliance with biosafety protocols, and accurately documenting results. The Laboratory Technologist will work closely with research teams to process samples, conduct experiments, and contribute to data analysis. Responsibilities also include preparing reagents, managing inventory of laboratory supplies, and adhering to strict quality control standards. The position requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work in a high-paced research environment. This role is critical to advancing IDRC's mission of improving public health through scientific research.

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field; Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting; Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as PCR, ELISA, and microscopy; Knowledge of biosafety and infection control protocols; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Excellent documentation and record-keeping abilities; Certification in laboratory technology is an added advantage.
