Science Officer - Research Integrity

The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) is seeking a Science Officer to oversee and promote research integrity within Uganda’s scientific community. The role involves monitoring compliance with national and international research ethics standards, investigating allegations of research misconduct, and providing guidance to researchers and institutions on ethical research practices. The officer will collaborate with academic institutions, government agencies, and international partners to develop and implement policies that safeguard research integrity. Additionally, the position requires organizing workshops, training sessions, and awareness campaigns to educate stakeholders about ethical research conduct. The officer will also prepare reports on research integrity issues and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (e.g., Natural Sciences, Medicine, Engineering) from a recognized institution; Master’s degree in Research Ethics, Science Policy, or a related field is an added advantage; Minimum of 3 years of experience in research, academic administration, or regulatory compliance; Strong knowledge of research ethics guidelines (e.g., UNESCO, WHO, or national policies); Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams; Proficiency in English (written and verbal); Familiarity with Ugandan research institutions and regulatory frameworks is desirable.
