Job Description
Laterite is seeking a Research Analyst to join their Nairobi office, focusing on social and economic research. The role involves supporting research projects by assisting with ethical approval processes, research design, and development of research instruments. Key responsibilities include conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis, drafting sections of reports and presentations for clients, and supporting communication with clients and internal project teams. The position also involves contributing to data collection efforts by coding survey instruments using platforms like SurveyCTO and ODK, collaborating with field teams to develop training materials, and participating in field visits to improve data collection processes. Additionally, the role includes monitoring, cleaning, and validating incoming survey data, working closely with field teams to resolve data quality issues, and supporting statistical analysis and interpretation of findings. There is also an optional opportunity to contribute to business development efforts, including proposal development and technical writing.
Requirements
A completed Masterβs degree in Economics, Public Health, Development, or related fields; at least one year of professional experience in similar roles or tasks (internships, dissertation work, or academic research group participation are acceptable if relevant); strong quantitative data analysis skills and proficiency in Stata; excellent written and oral communication skills in English; experience working with ODK-based platforms (e.g., SurveyCTO); previous work experience in Kenya is a plus; organizational and interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and drive to work in a collaborative environment.
