Health and Safety Officer / ISO Coordinator

This role involves ensuring safety standards and ISO compliance within one of East Africa's largest steel manufacturing facilities. The Health and Safety Officer / ISO Coordinator will be responsible for managing health and safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment, as well as coordinating ISO certification processes to ensure adherence to international standards. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating workplace hazards, conducting regular safety audits, and implementing corrective actions. The role involves close collaboration with operational teams to foster a culture of safety and compliance, ensuring that all activities align with regulatory requirements and company policies. Additionally, the coordinator will be expected to train employees on safety practices, maintain accurate records of incidents and compliance activities, and report on safety performance to senior management. The work environment is a dynamic steel manufacturing facility where adherence to safety and quality standards is critical to operational success.

Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field; Minimum of 3 years of experience in health and safety management within a manufacturing or industrial environment; Certification in ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 9001) is highly desirable; Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements; Excellent communication and training skills to educate staff on safety protocols; Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement corrective measures; Proficiency in safety management systems and reporting tools; Physical ability to conduct site inspections and audits in an industrial setting.
