Role Description The Executive Chef is a full-time role based in Kampala with a hybrid work arrangement, allowing some tasks to be performed from home. The Executive Chef will oversee menu development, food preparation, and presentation to ensure high-quality, consistent culinary standards across YooKatale’s food offerings. Daily responsibilities include managing kitchen operations, supervising culinary staff, coordinating procurement of ingredients, and maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to design food concepts suitable for mobile and digital platforms, optimizing menus for customer preferences, cost efficiency, and nutritional value. The Executive Chef will also monitor kitchen performance metrics, manage budgets, train staff, and contribute to innovative food solutions that align with YooKatale’s mission of accessible, healthy food. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in menu design, recipe development, and food presentation, with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and customer satisfaction.Proficiency in kitchen operations management, including inventory control, cost management, and supplier coordination.Strong knowledge of food safety standards, hygiene practices, and regulatory compliance in commercial kitchen environments.Experience leading and training kitchen teams, with skills in team coordination, performance supervision, and conflict resolution.Ability to adapt menus and workflows for mobile and digital food platforms, including packaging and delivery considerations.Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to work effectively in a hybrid setup (on-site in Kampala and remote).Relevant culinary education or certification (e.g., diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or related field) is highly beneficial.Prior experience as an Executive Chef or Head Chef in a high-volume or innovative food service environment, preferably within African or regional cuisines.Strong communication skills and a customer-centric mindset aligned with YooKatale’s values of respect, authenticity, curiosity, and resilience. <
