Senior Internal Auditor

The Senior Internal Auditor will be responsible for planning, conducting, and reporting on internal audits to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The role involves evaluating the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes across the university's operations, including academic, administrative, and financial functions. The auditor will identify areas of risk and make recommendations for improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accountability. This position requires regular interaction with senior management, department heads, and external auditors to provide assurance on the integrity of financial and operational systems. The role may also involve special investigations and fraud detection as part of the university's governance framework.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; recognized professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or CIA; minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in internal auditing, preferably in an academic or large institutional setting; strong knowledge of internal audit standards (e.g., IPPF); proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite; excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities; familiarity with Ugandan public sector regulations and university governance structures; professional certification (e.g., CIA) is an added advantage.
