Immunization Investments and New Technologies Consultant
Job Description
The Immunization Investments and New Technologies Consultant will work within the Global Programme Division, Health-Immunization, to address critical challenges in immunization supply chains amid shrinking health funding and reduced country budgets. The role involves demonstrating the impact of potent vaccines and effective cold chain systems on reducing zero-dose burdens, increasing immunization coverage, improving health outcomes, and contributing to broader economic goals. The consultant will develop decision frameworks to guide governments in investing in new technologies for immunization supply chains, ensuring optimal system investments. Key responsibilities include analyzing vaccine logistics, cold chain management, and public health systems strengthening; assessing WHO PQS standards for cold chain equipment; and leveraging innovation portfolios such as VIPS and INFUSE. The consultant will also provide expertise on Gavi-supported immunization supply chain systems, stock reporting systems, and digital data platforms. Work will be conducted remotely, requiring strong analytical, reporting, and coordination skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple assignments within tight timelines.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, Logistics, Public Health, Supply Chain Management or related field; Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in immunization supply chain, vaccine logistics, cold chain management, or public health systems strengthening; Experience working in the field of immunization with deep expertise at a global level; Fluency in English; Good working knowledge of WHO PQS for cold chain equipment and associated devices; Understanding of VIPS, INFUSE and other innovation portfolios; Strong knowledge of Vaccine and Cold Chain Management (VCCM) systems; Familiarity with Gavi-supported immunization supply chain systems and processes; Experience with stock reporting systems and digital data platforms; Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple assignments within timelines; Prior experience supporting Gavi-supported immunization programmes and/or UNICEF-supported health system initiatives is desirable.
