The Sustainable Farming Science Program Consultant (Agronomic Bio-Fortification) will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring agronomic bio-fortification interventions to enhance the nutritional quality of staple crops. This role involves collaborating with national agricultural research systems, extension services, and local farming communities to identify and promote bio-fortified crop varieties. The consultant will conduct field trials, analyze data, and prepare technical reports to assess the impact of bio-fortification strategies. Additionally, they will provide training and capacity-building sessions for farmers and extension workers on best practices in agronomic bio-fortification. The role requires close coordination with the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT’s global and regional teams to ensure alignment with program objectives and global standards.

PhD in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, or a related field; minimum of 5 years of experience in agronomic research, bio-fortification, or crop improvement; demonstrated expertise in field trial design and data analysis; strong knowledge of bio-fortified crop varieties and agronomic practices; proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS); excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in multidisciplinary teams; willingness to travel frequently to rural and remote areas; fluency in English (additional local languages are a plus).
