Position Summary: The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a high-energy, results-driven professional responsible for driving strategic growth and expanding the market footprint of our automotive service center. The primary focus of this role is to identify and secure high-value B2B opportunities—including corporate fleets, logistics providers, insurance companies, and car rental agencies—while also developing innovative B2C acquisition strategies. This position requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in automotive or corporate sales, strong negotiation skills, and a passion for establishing long-term, profitable business partnerships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities B2B Client Acquisition & Pipeline Management - Corporate Fleet Acquisition: Proactively identify, pitch, and secure service contracts with corporate organizations, government agencies, NGOs, and logistics companies requiring fleet maintenance. - Partnership Development: Establish and nurture strategic alliances with insurance companies, motor vehicle dealerships, and car rental firms to become their preferred service center partner. - Sales Pipeline Management: Manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation and cold calling to high-level presentations, contract negotiations, and closing deals. - Tender & Proposal Management: Lead the preparation and submission of highly competitive corporate proposals, service center tenders, and service level agreements (SLAs). Strategic Growth & Marketing - Market Analysis: Monitor industry trends, competitor offerings, and market demands in Nairobi to identify new revenue streams and service offerings. - Campaign Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing and operations teams to design targeted promotional campaigns, corporate open-days, and loyalty packages. - Revenue Optimization: Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual business development targets, contributing directly to the center's profitability. Account Management & Quality Assurance - Client Retention: Act as the primary relationship manager for corporate accounts, conducting regular performance reviews to ensure their fleet maintenance needs are consistently met. - Feedback Integration: Gather client feedback and collaborate with the workshop management team to continually improve service delivery, turnaround times, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Education: University degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Strategic Management, or a related field. A background or certification in Automotive Engineering is a distinct advantage. - Experience: Minimum of 4–6 years of proven experience in corporate sales or business development, with at least 2 years specifically within the automotive industry (e.g., service centers, fleet management, or commercial vehicle sales). - Network: An existing, active network of corporate procurement managers, transport/fleet managers, and insurance corporate decision-makers within Nairobi and its environs. - Skills: Exceptional negotiation, closing, and relationship-management skills. Strong analytical and presentation abilities are essential. - Attributes: A self-driven, highly motivated professional with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work independently under tight targets. Physical Demands & Work Environment This role involves a mix of office-based strategic planning and field-based client visits, requiring a valid driving license and willingness to travel within the region. Flexibility to attend corporate networking events, product launches, and industry expos.
