Technical Lead - AI EdTech in Emergencies

Job Description

The Technical Lead - AI EdTech in Emergencies will lead INEE’s work on the Quality Assurance Facility for AI EdTech in Emergencies, providing technical expertise to guide the development of components for quality assuring AI EdTech. This includes defining benchmarks and rapid evaluations to establish what constitutes 'good' AI EdTech in crisis-affected contexts, and delivering decision-grade evidence. The role involves leading collaboration with INEE’s membership to capture current practices, needs, and demands regarding AI EdTech in Emergencies, ensuring project activities reflect these inputs. Additionally, the role will support the strengthening and localization of INEE’s Network to include stakeholders and decision-makers in EiE contexts interested in using the QA Facility. The Technical Lead will represent INEE, the project, and partnership in international forums to disseminate findings, raise awareness, and drive the use of the QA Facility. Strategic thinking and thought leadership regarding AI EdTech in Emergencies will also be a key responsibility. The position reports directly to the INEE Deputy Director and works closely with the INEE Secretariat, INEE Director, INEE Membership, and external partner Fab AI. This role may involve traveling up to 10% of the time to challenging field locations.

Requirements

Postgraduate degree in education; 5-7 years of directly relevant professional experience; strong theoretical and practice-based background in education in emergencies and EdTech; proven track record of managing and delivering projects in the education sector across multiple contexts and involving partnerships; in-depth understanding of INEE’s ways of working and role in the EiE sector; strong understanding of evidence-based approaches to and research on EiE and EdTech; ability to work flexibly, independently, virtually, and under pressure in a fast-paced environment; excellent analytical and writing skills for drafting briefs, reports, and syntheses; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written in English; willingness to travel 10% to challenging field locations; ability to work in another INEE language is desirable.
