Job Description
This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage advanced information management and geospatial technologies (Google Cloud Platform, ArcGIS Enterprise) to directly support life-saving mine action operations. You will be instrumental in shaping data-driven strategies, enhancing operational efficiency, and building capacity within a critical UN programme, contributing significantly to peace and security efforts in challenging environments. The Information Management and Analytics Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex information management systems and architecture for the UNMAS oPt programme. This role ensures the effective collection, storage, analysis, and dissemination of critical data, translating business requirements into technical solutions, and providing expert advice and training to enhance data-driven decision-making and reporting for mine action operations. The specialist will support data collection and reporting for the UNMAS oPt programme under the supervision of the IM Team Lead. Key responsibilities include managing and maintaining the programme’s IM systems and information architecture using platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Data Studio), ArcGIS Enterprise (ArcGIS Pro, Operations Dashboard, Survey123, Webapps, Geocortex), and Google G Suite/Drive. The role also involves ensuring efficient implementation of assigned programmes, contributing to technical documentation and training materials, presenting IM products to external audiences, conducting training for stakeholders, collecting data requirements, ensuring high data quality standards, facilitating data integration, developing analytical products for dashboards and ArcGIS web applications, providing advice to senior management, and ensuring data security and safety protocols are followed.
Requirements
Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Information Management, Geospatial Technologies, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field is required; A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field is required; Experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining complex information management systems and architectures is required; Experience with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Data Studio) and ArcGIS Enterprise (ArcGIS Pro, Operations Dashboard, Survey123, Webapps, Geocortex) is required; Experience with Google G Suite and Google Drive is required; Experience in mine action, humanitarian, or development contexts is desirable. Skills: Proficiency in data collection, storage, analysis, and dissemination; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Excellent communication and training skills; Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions; Knowledge of data security and safety protocols. Languages: Fluency in English is required; Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
