Office Relocation Project Management Consultant

Job Description

The consultant will support the UNICEF Asia Pacific Pillar Office in Tokyo in planning, coordinating, and completing the office relocation project. This includes ensuring the process is well-structured, documented, risk-managed, and delivered through to operational readiness, move-in, and project closure. The assignment is organized around three linked work packages: relocation project planning and governance; office decommissioning and new office operational readiness; and move-in coordination, project closure, and handover. The role requires close coordination with multiple stakeholders, including UNICEF staff, vendors, and external partners, to ensure a smooth transition. The consultant will be responsible for managing project timelines, tracking risks and issues, and ensuring compliance with UNICEF standards and policies throughout the relocation process.

Requirements

Advanced university degree (master’s or higher) in Business Administration, Project Management, Operations Management, Facilities Management, Public Administration, Communications, International Relations or other relevant disciplines; minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, operations management, office administration, workplace transition, facilities management, office relocation, or a related field; strong project coordination and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities simultaneously; experience in project planning, risk tracking, issue management, and progress monitoring; strong stakeholder coordination and relationship management skills; strong analytical, problem-solving, and follow-up skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project tracking tools; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; fluency in English and Japanese (written & verbal); knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset; previous experience supporting office relocation, facilities transition, workplace redesign, or organizational change projects is desirable; familiarity with facilities management, asset management inventory processes, and vendor coordination is desirable; previous experience with UNICEF, the United Nations system, or other international organizations is desirable; knowledge of business continuity, operational readiness, and workplace health and safety considerations is desirable.
