Project Manager (Building Urban Resilience to Climate Change and Transitioning to a Green Economy)

This role involves managing a UNDP/GEF-funded project aimed at building urban resilience to climate change and transitioning to a green economy in Somalia. Key responsibilities include overseeing project planning, coordination, and delivery; designing and implementing Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for flood resilience; coordinating green economy financing mechanisms and private sector engagement; managing urban climate risk assessments; and ensuring alignment with UNDP-GEF procedures. The incumbent will also prepare project revisions, monitor compliance with donor requirements, manage financial resources, and facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity development. The role requires close collaboration with government and municipal stakeholders to integrate sustainability indicators into the project results framework and ensure post-project maintenance of NbS infrastructure.

Advanced University degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Urban Planning & Design, Climate & Environmental Resilience, Social science, Project & Programme Management, Geography, Natural Resource Management, or related field; OR a First-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in the above fields combined with an additional 2 years of relevant experience. Minimum of 5 years (with a Master's degree) or 7 years (with a Bachelor's degree) of experience managing large-scale Urban Planning & Design projects and program management. Proven experience in leadership, team management, and donor relations; strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder coordination abilities; experience with UNDP/GEF procedures; proficiency in English and Somali.
