Job Description
Malaria Consortium is seeking a Research Specialist to lead implementation and operations research initiatives focused on malaria prevention, control, and treatment programs. The role involves designing and conducting research studies, analyzing data, and translating findings into actionable recommendations for program improvement. The Specialist will collaborate with national and international partners, including government agencies, NGOs, and academic institutions, to ensure research aligns with public health priorities. Key responsibilities include developing research protocols, managing field data collection, overseeing data analysis, and disseminating results through reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications. The position requires a strong background in public health, epidemiology, or a related field, with a focus on malaria or infectious diseases. The role is based in Uganda but may involve travel to field sites and regional meetings.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, or a related field; PhD preferred; Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in research, preferably in malaria or infectious disease control; Experience in designing and implementing research studies, including quantitative and qualitative methods; Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SPSS); Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Experience working in low-resource settings and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams; Knowledge of malaria control strategies and public health programs in Africa is highly desirable.
