Curriculum Development and Training Specialist

Job Description

To lead the pedagogical design and development of all project training curricula, focusing on reviewing and infusing Green Hydrogen competencies into selected TVET curricula. This role involves designing Training-of-Trainers (ToT) programs, short upskilling/reskilling courses, and preparing curricula for accreditation by relevant bodies. The position ensures all content is competence-based, aligned to the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF), gender-responsive, and ready for national roll-out. Responsibilities include translating skills-gap analyses into structured Green Hydrogen competency frameworks, leading curriculum reviews, developing course schedules and learning materials, and supporting the assessment of ToT trainers. The role also involves embedding gender-responsive and inclusive approaches, coordinating with consortium members, and reporting progress to the SERC Project Manager.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Engineering Education, or a related technical/pedagogical field; Bachelor’s degree with substantial additional relevant experience may be considered. Demonstrated record of developing TVET CDACC-accredited occupational standards, curricula, and assessment tools; familiarity with the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) approach and the Kenya National Qualifications Framework. At least seven (7) years in TVET curriculum design and development within Kenya’s CBET framework; proven experience designing Training-of-Trainers programmes and short professional courses; demonstrated application of gender-responsive and inclusive curriculum approaches. Familiarity with renewable energy or green hydrogen is a strong asset. Strong instructional-design and learning-outcome formulation skills; excellent facilitation, stakeholder-engagement, and workshop-management skills; excellent written and spoken English and report-writing ability.
