Senior Project Associate (Engineering) - Affiliated Contractor

This position will be hired under an affiliated contract and will work under the supervision of the Senior Programme Officer (Protection) and direct supervision of the Programme Officer (Protection). The successful candidate will support the implementation of construction, engineering, and WASH activities related to Migration Response Centres (MRCs) and Community-Based Reintegration (CBR) initiatives. Key responsibilities include coordinating with contractors, engineers, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation; documenting all construction, engineering, and WASH activities (contracts, permits, assessments, reports, photos); facilitating internal coordination between programs and collaborating with Procurement, Finance, HR, and Logistics units in Addis Ababa and field offices; and supporting procurement processes for construction materials and services in close coordination with the Supply Chain Unit. The role requires a strong focus on timely delivery, proper documentation, and adherence to IOM standards and donor requirements.

University BA and MA in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Environmental Engineering, and/or related field (accredited universities listed in UNESCO World Higher Education Database); minimum 4 years of experience in construction, engineering, or WASH projects; experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or UN agencies is an asset; good computer knowledge in MS Office packages; demonstrated capacity and skills in AutoCAD, ProgeCAD, ArcGIS, and RCD 2000; ability to adapt technical knowledge to specific projects; ability to work with colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds; ability to work quickly, accurately, and pay attention to detail; willingness to assist efficiently in a busy project environment; strong writing and reporting skills; fluency in English and Amharic (oral and written), with knowledge of other Ethiopian national languages desirable.
