• Lead the implementation of the Mine Health and Safety Management System. • Ensure compliance with the Mines and Minerals Development Act, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and company HSE standards. • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, standards, and safe work practices. • Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and compliance assessments. • Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessments (HIRA), and implementation of appropriate control measures. • Monitor Critical Risk Management (CRM) and Life Saving Rules compliance. • Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences. • Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and monitored. • Monitor contractor HSE performance and ensure contractor compliance. • Coordinate emergency preparedness and response plans, including emergency drills. • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit conditions. • Monitor environmental performance, including waste management, air quality, water quality, noise, dust, and rehabilitation activities. • Coordinate environmental monitoring programmes and reporting. • Promote pollution prevention and environmental conservation initiatives. • Ensure hazardous materials are stored, transported, and disposed of safely.
