Humanitarian Access and Security Manager – Sudan

Under the management of the Area Manager, the Humanitarian Access and Security Manager (HASM) will oversee security operations across the entire Darfur region, supporting HI's activities and movements of goods and people between different states. Based in Tawila, North Darfur, the role requires regular travel to South Darfur (potentially for weeks at a time) and West Darfur. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing security strategies aligned with HI's global policies, producing risk assessments and mitigation measures, conducting field visits for security assessments, and providing training on security procedures to HI staff. The HASM will represent HI in bilateral meetings with humanitarian actors and local entities, maintain networks with key security stakeholders, and ensure compliance with institutional donor rules. The role also involves incident reporting, dashboard data compilation, and supporting mutualized logistics activities, particularly for Atlas Logistique transportation operations.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in humanitarian access and security management; Master’s degree in International Relations, Security Studies, Humanitarian Action, or related field; Proven experience in conflict zones, preferably in Sudan or the Horn of Africa; Strong analytical and risk assessment skills; Experience in training and capacity building for security-related issues; Fluency in English (French and Arabic are strong assets); Ability to work in high-pressure environments with minimal supervision; Knowledge of HI’s security policies and humanitarian standards; Experience in managing security incidents and implementing mitigation measures.
