Dean, College of Shariah & Law

The Dean of the College of Shariah & Law at the University of Hargeisa is responsible for providing academic leadership and ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the college. This role involves overseeing academic, research, and community service programs, promoting faculty development, and ensuring compliance with academic standards. The dean will lead the college in achieving its academic and research objectives aligned with the university’s mission, foster a culture of academic excellence, and encourage innovative teaching and research. Additionally, the dean will oversee curriculum design and review, faculty recruitment and retention, and the development of new academic programs. The role requires collaboration with national and international organizations, participation in accreditation processes, and ensuring the college meets the Shariah and law education needs of the nation. The dean also manages the college’s budget, resources, and facilities, while providing regular performance reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and representing the college in external relations.

A Doctorate or doctoral candidate in the field of law or a related field; at least 5 years of academic leadership experience with a strong record of teaching, research, community service, and administration; leadership experience in academic and industry settings; extensive teaching and research experience in higher education; publications in the law/Shariah fields and related literature (at least two articles/papers published in reputable journals); ability to provide assertive advocacy on behalf of the University; excellent verbal and written communication skills; evidence of successful management of staff, partners, and stakeholder relationships; excellent interpersonal skills with sensitivity to multicultural environments; high integrity/ethics and ability to meet deadlines; excellent computer skills.
