Country Representative (CR)

The Country Representative (CR) will lead the implementation of PSI’s awards in collaboration with the Government of Tanzania and other key partners, with a focus on diversifying funding streams and increasing health impact. The role involves strategic, programmatic, and operational management of Tanzania’s contract and grant portfolio, ensuring high project performance and compliance with donor regulations. The CR will serve as a primary advocate for private sector approaches to public health challenges, introduce PSI to new partners, and strengthen relationships with existing ones. Responsibilities include performing risk assessments to identify and mitigate operational, financial, legal, contractual, reputational, and safety risks; promoting an ethical work environment aligned with PSI’s values; and ensuring compliance with frequently changing government NGO regulations. The CR will also manage the country platform, oversee budgets, financial reporting, and internal controls, and maintain strong relationships with government stakeholders at all levels.

Significant management and new business development experience; proven experience managing large teams to deliver complex projects in challenging environments; strong operational acumen; high emotional intelligence to support team success; significant demonstrated fundraising, personnel, and financial management experience; track record in assuring contractual, financial, and programmatic compliance with internal and external policies; ability to adhere to frequently changing government NGO compliance regulations; broad knowledge of multiple health areas to guide program implementation; at least 10 years of experience managing people, budgets, and public health programs; significant experience in government and donor relations; MBA, MPH, MD, or other relevant degree; experience living and working in a developing country, preferably in East or Southern Africa.
