The Senior Software Engineer will lead the development and implementation of national transport management systems, including the Tanzania National Electronic Single Window System (TNESWS) and the Integrated Road Management System (IRMS). Primary responsibilities include designing scalable software architectures, leading a team of developers, ensuring system integration with national databases, and providing technical oversight for all Ministry of Works and Transport digital initiatives. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders across government agencies to align systems with national transport policies and international standards. Key deliverables include system documentation, user training materials, and quarterly performance reports for senior management. The work environment involves both office-based development and field visits to transport hubs for system testing and user feedback collection.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree is an added advantage; Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in software development with at least 3 years in a leadership role; Proficiency in Java, Python, and JavaScript frameworks; Experience with enterprise-level database systems (Oracle, PostgreSQL); Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure); Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines; Strong project management skills; Ability to work in a multicultural team; Fluency in English and Swahili; Professional certifications in software engineering or project management are desirable.
