Senior Programmes Officer (Bilingual)

Job Description

The Senior Programmes Officer (Bilingual) will play a pivotal role in advancing AWDF’s mission to champion the rights and economic empowerment of African women through strategic grant-making and programme development. The incumbent will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring gender-responsive programmes that align with AWDF’s strategic priorities, ensuring alignment with feminist principles and African feminist movements. This role involves conducting needs assessments, developing programme frameworks, and fostering partnerships with grantees, donors, and stakeholders across Africa. The officer will also provide technical support to grantees, facilitate capacity-building initiatives, and contribute to advocacy efforts to influence policy and resource allocation for gender equality. Additionally, the role requires strong leadership in convening multi-stakeholder dialogues, documenting best practices, and reporting on programme outcomes to inform future strategies. Fluency in both English and French is essential to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and ensure inclusive programme delivery.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field; minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in programme management, gender equality, or feminist advocacy; proven track record in designing and implementing gender-responsive programmes; strong knowledge of feminist principles and African feminist movements; experience in grant-making, monitoring, and evaluation; excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French; ability to work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team; demonstrated leadership in convening and facilitating stakeholder engagements; familiarity with feminist research methodologies and participatory approaches; experience in advocacy and policy influence; proficiency in using programme management tools and databases.
