Chemistry and Mathematics Support Teacher

Pharo Secondary School in Sheikh, Somaliland is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Chemistry and Mathematics Support Teacher to support the delivery of the Pearson Edexcel Curriculum. The successful candidate will work closely with Lead Teachers and the Vice Principal (Academics) to deliver high-quality teaching and learning in Chemistry and Mathematics, support practical laboratory sessions, provide academic support to students, and contribute to the wider life of the school. Responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging lessons aligned with the Pearson Edexcel Curriculum, assisting with lesson preparation, classroom activities, tutorials, and assessments, ensuring safe laboratory practices, monitoring student progress, maintaining accurate records, and participating in co-curricular activities and boarding school community events. The role requires a learner-centred approach, strong subject knowledge, effective classroom management, and a commitment to equity and access in education.

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Mathematics, Education, or a closely related field; recognised teaching qualification (Postgraduate Diploma in Education or equivalent is an advantage); master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage; at least five (5) years' experience teaching Chemistry and Mathematics at secondary school level, including A Level or an internationally recognised curriculum such as Pearson Edexcel, Cambridge, or IB; experience supporting practical Chemistry laboratory instruction; strong classroom management and student support skills; excellent written and spoken English; Somali language skills are highly desirable; good digital literacy, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email, and online learning platforms.
