Maintenance Engineer
Job Description
The Wash Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects in target communities. This includes conducting needs assessments, developing project proposals, overseeing construction of WASH infrastructure such as boreholes, latrines, and handwashing stations, and ensuring compliance with national and international WASH standards. The role involves collaborating with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote hygiene education and behavior change. Additionally, the Wash Engineer will provide technical support to field teams, conduct training sessions for community members, and prepare progress reports for donors and partners. The position requires a strong understanding of WASH principles, project management skills, and the ability to work in challenging environments.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field; minimum of 3 years of experience in WASH project implementation; experience in community mobilization and hygiene promotion; proficiency in project planning and monitoring tools; strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to work under pressure and in remote areas; familiarity with Rwanda’s WASH sector standards.
