Science Officer - Research Registration & Management

The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) is seeking a qualified Science Officer to oversee research registration and management activities. The role involves coordinating the registration of research projects, ensuring compliance with national research guidelines, and providing technical support to researchers and institutions. The Science Officer will work closely with government agencies, academic institutions, and private sector stakeholders to facilitate ethical and high-quality research. Key responsibilities include reviewing research proposals, maintaining a database of registered projects, liaising with regulatory bodies, and preparing reports on research activities for stakeholders. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision.

Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (e.g., Natural Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, or Agricultural Sciences); Master’s degree is an added advantage; Minimum of 3 years of experience in research coordination, project management, or a related field; Strong knowledge of research ethics and regulatory frameworks; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Ability to work independently and in a team; Familiarity with Uganda’s research policies and guidelines; Experience in data management and record-keeping.
