Job Description

The Field Protection Associate will support the strengthening of protection, gender equality, and inclusion mainstreaming within IOM’s humanitarian multi-sectoral response, development, and peace programs. The role involves supporting the delivery of protection and GBV prevention/response programming, building capacity of IOM’s team and partner organizations on Protection and GBV Risk Mitigation, referrals, Psychological First Aid (PFA), and PSEA. The incumbent will assist in identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing Protection and GBV issues at the field level to support mainstreaming under the Sudan Response. Responsibilities include implementing Protection, GBV, and Disability Inclusion activities, coordinating with other sectors to achieve intended protection outcomes, liaising with community leaders and representative groups, operationalizing community-based referral systems, and supporting capacity building for Protection and GBV response services. The position also involves monitoring project activities, providing recommendations to address gaps in health and psychosocial support, developing outreach materials, mentoring staff and partners, and maintaining coordination with GBV, PSS, and Health actors. The Field Protection Associate will work under the direct supervision of the Field Protection Officer and overall supervision of the Programme Protection Coordinator based in Juba.

Requirements

University degree in social work, Social Sciences, Psychology or a related field from an accredited academic institution; at least three years of relevant professional experience; experience in humanitarian Protection and community stabilization response programming; experience in implementing integrated protection programming in crisis contexts; good report writing and analytical skills; fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic and local languages is an advantage; experience in supporting protection assessments and service mapping; familiarity with GBV prevention and gender transformative approaches; experience in capacity building for Protection and GBV response services including case management, psychosocial support, referrals, and clinical management of rape services.
