Job Description
This opportunity is for a technically strong Quality Control Inspector Mechanical & Welding to support a site-based project in Brunsbüttel. The Quality Control Inspector Mechanical & Welding will play a key role in verifying that mechanical installation, welding, piping and associated construction activities meet approved drawings, specifications and applicable regulations. This position offers the chance to contribute to quality performance across construction, mechanical completion and handover activities. Role Context This position is based on a construction site environment and is relevant to the oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical, energy or process industries. The role supports project delivery across mechanical assembly, welding, piping, equipment, HVAC, fittings and steel construction activities. The Quality Control Inspector Mechanical & Welding will work closely with construction, commissioning, HSSE and other QC disciplines to support quality compliance and reduce rework. Key Responsibilities - Inspect and document mechanical assembly, welding, piping, equipment, HVAC, fittings and steel construction work on site. - Verify that installations and mechanical finishes comply with approved drawings, specifications, ITPs and applicable regulations. - Monitor welding activities, welding instructions, NDT/NDE work, radiography evaluations, pressure testing, flange fitting and leakage management. - Review and support acceptance of Inspection & Test Plans, Inspection Test Records, test reports, punch lists, system dossiers and handover documentation. - Inspect procured, manufactured and delivered equipment, components, fittings and bulk materials on receipt and before installation. - Identify, document and follow up non-conformities, deficiencies and corrective actions, escalating significant deviations where required. - Support clarification of technical questions, engineering deviations and product deviations linked to quality matters. - Verify mechanical completion, including system-related punch lists and complete handover documentation. - Help ensure equipment is protected from contamination and mechanical damage during site activities. - Contribute technical knowledge of codes, standards, specifications and project quality requirements to support project delivery.
Requirements
Essential: - Technical qualification as a specialist, master craftsman, technician or engineer in mechanical engineering, welding technology, pipeline construction, plant construction or a comparable field. - At least 5 years of experience in a mechanical engineering, inspection or QA/QC role. - Proven site QC inspection experience covering rotating equipment, machinery, fittings, piping line walks and welding activities. - Very good knowledge of welding technology, welding processes, welding documentation, NDT/NDE, radiography evaluation and pressure testing. - Knowledge of mechanical disciplines including HVAC, compressors, pumps, motors, generators, heat exchangers and pressure fittings. - Experience in construction, mechanical completion, verification and handover processes. - Good knowledge of relevant EU regulations, particularly CE marking, ATEX and PED. - Confident handling of ITRs, area QC inspections, handovers, punch lists, system dossiers and project-related quality documentation. - Must have the right to work in Germany without visa sponsorship. - Strong communication, collaboration and decision-making skills, with a proactive and quality-focused approach.
