Our programs strengthen public health systems and address the world’s leading causes of illness, injury and death. Currently working in 73 countries, supporting data-driven decision making in government, advancing evidence-based public health policies, and mounting strategic communication campaigns. Job Purpose: The Program Manager will provide technical support in enhancing health systems' capacity to reduce lead poisoning and to oversee our field research in Tanzania. The manager will offer epidemiological and programmatic support, including supporting the design, implementation, and monitoring of blood lead surveillance in Tanzania. The role involves collaborating with a team of environmental health scientists, epidemiologists, clinicians, public health professionals, and statisticians, and partnering with high-level government officials. Qualifications: Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, environmental science, or related public health field (e.g., biostatistics, demography) or public administration. Experience: • Minimum of six to seven years of experience in epidemiology, environmental health, global health, and/or program implementation; • Experience in supporting the design and monitoring of health surveillance programs at the national level or previous experience managing large health-related surveys; • Experience working with government health departments, regulatory bodies, and public health facilities; • Experience in using data analytic software (e.g. R, Stata, SAS, Excel) and/or data visualization platforms (e.g., Shiny, Tableau); • Experience in conducting training sessions; • Experience in supervising a small team. Ability to manage a team of 2-3 staff and other program stakeholders at the national level. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: • This is a full-time position that can be based remotely from Dodoma, Tanzania. This Vacancy Advertisement is open to Tanzanian Nationals and candidates holding a valid work resident permit for Tanzania; • The successful candidate will be hired on Vital’s Employer of Record; • The salary range for this position is TZS 94,000,000 to TZS 114,000,000; • Willing to travel for in-person meetings and field visits in Tanzania as needed and occasionally travel internationally to attend meetings. • This is a full-time position that can be based remotely from Dodoma, Tanzania.
