Regional Head - Technology Operations (Fintech & Payments)
Job Description
The Regional Head of Technology & Operations will drive the alignment of technology and operational functions to deliver seamless and innovative solutions across East Africa. This role is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of technology initiatives and operational processes that optimize efficiency, support business growth, and enhance customer experience in the competitive Fintech landscape. The position requires developing and executing a comprehensive Operations & Technology strategy and tactical plans for East Africa, encompassing Engineering (Application Development and Switch), Infrastructure, and Production Support. The role will align the regional strategy with the Group's global vision while addressing local nuances, driving operational excellence through process improvement, standardization, and automation, and ensuring a robust, scalable, and secure technology infrastructure. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify technology opportunities, champion digital transformation initiatives, and prioritize user experience enhancements is essential. The role also involves leading organizational change, fostering a high-performance culture, and providing strong leadership to IT Engineering, Infrastructure, and Production Support teams.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred; Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles within the Fintech or financial services sector; Proven track record in developing and executing technology and operational strategies; Strong expertise in Engineering (Application Development and Switch), Infrastructure, and Production Support; Experience in driving digital transformation initiatives and agile frameworks; Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage organizational change; Deep understanding of Fintech landscape trends, regulatory requirements, and customer preferences; Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills; Experience in data-driven decision-making and improving data maturity across functions; Certification in relevant technologies or methodologies (e.g., PMP, ITIL, Agile/Scrum) is a plus.
