Job Description
This is a senior-level position responsible for providing managerial leadership and strategic direction to UNICEF's nutrition programmes in Nairobi, Kenya. The Chief Nutrition Officer will oversee programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's global nutrition strategies and Kenya's national health priorities. Key responsibilities include programme management, monitoring and quality control of results, providing advisory services and technical support to government and partners, advocacy and partnership building, and innovation in knowledge management and capacity building. The role requires close collaboration with government ministries, NGOs, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to strengthen nutrition systems and improve child health outcomes. The position involves high-level representation at national and international forums and contributes to policy development and strategic planning for nutrition interventions.
Requirements
Education: Master's degree or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Nutrition, Public Health, Nutritional Epidemiology, Global/International Health and Nutrition, Health/Nutrition Research, Policy and/or Management, Health Sciences, or another health-related science field; Work Experience: At least 10 years of relevant work experience in Nutrition, Public Health, Nutrition Policy, Health Systems, Food Systems, Humanitarian Nutrition, or related fields; Skills: Proven experience in managerial leadership, advocacy, partnership building, and strategic thinking; Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required; Desirables: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language; Experience in health/nutrition programme/project development and management in a UN system agency or organization; Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts.
