Job Description
The Health Officer will be responsible for planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of Plan International’s health interventions in three localities (Aljablain, Tandalti, and Eldouim) to strengthen the overall health system. Primary duties include enhancing the quality of primary health care services (OPD, SRH, EPI, HP, investigation, etc.) at supported PHCs to meet national standards, contributing to health emergency response, and implementing community health activities. The role involves direct supervision of Health Assistants and MoH staff at PHCs, collaborating with Nutrition, WASH, and other technical teams, and ensuring all PHCs are equipped with necessary medical tools, equipment, and protocols. The Health Officer will report achievements, services provided, and challenges to the Project Coordinator based in Kosti, White Nile Programme area. Key responsibilities also include conducting regular monitoring visits, supporting capacity-building initiatives, ensuring infection prevention and control, and maintaining zero stock of drugs and medical supplies in all supported PHCs.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field; minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in health programs, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts; experience in primary health care (PHC), OPD, SRH, EPI, and community health activities; strong knowledge of MOH national/international and WHO protocols and standards; experience in training and capacity building; familiarity with monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning (MERL) tools; ability to conduct community mobilization and sensitization; experience in emergency health response and outbreak management; strong communication and coordination skills; proficiency in Arabic and English (written and verbal); familiarity with child safeguarding policies and gender equality principles.
