Payments & Reconciliation Transformation Lead
Job Description
Seeking an experienced finance professional with 8+ years of experience to lead reconciliation and payments transformation, improve operational controls, and partner across global teams to build scalable, technology-enabled finance operations. The role involves championing automation and innovation by owning the strategy and execution for bank reconciliation automation, integrating cutting-edge tools into the ERP, and turning manual tasks into streamlined processes. You will design and standardize robust pre- and post-payment vendor reconciliation systems, investigate complex transactions to eliminate duplicate payments, resolve aged balances, and ensure absolute compliance. Additionally, you will actively identify operational bottlenecks, design corrective action plans, and maintain audit readiness while serving as the gatekeeper of financial policies and SOPs. The position includes providing direct mentorship, coaching, and career development for a team of finance professionals, building team capabilities, and cultivating future leaders. As a deputy leader, you will act as a strategic partner to the Payments & Treasury leadership team, leading high-stakes cross-functional projects and ensuring seamless continuity of operations.
Requirements
Certified CPA or ACCA Finalist (mandatory requirement); Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field; At least 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in finance operations, treasury, payments, or financial controls; Deep expertise in bank, vendor, and balance sheet reconciliations; Advanced hands-on experience with modern ERP systems; Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (data manipulation and report building); Experience in reconciliation automation and financial controls; Ability to mentor and develop finance professionals; Strong understanding of financial policies and SOPs; Eligibility to work in Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Burundi, Malawi, Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, or Nigeria.
