Lecturer – School of Law

The position of Lecturer in the School of Law at the University of Kigali offers an opportunity for qualified professionals to contribute their knowledge and experience in a dynamic academic environment. The role involves delivering high-quality, learner-centered teaching at the undergraduate level in both Public Law and Private Law. Lecturers will be responsible for conducting research, publishing scholarly work, and actively engaging in knowledge dissemination to enhance the University’s academic profile and institutional visibility. Additionally, they will assist in the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of academic programs to ensure alignment with national regulatory requirements and international best practices. Successful candidates will serve as ambassadors of the University, engaging with prospective students, parents, alumni, partner institutions, industry stakeholders, and the wider community to communicate the University’s academic offerings and research strengths. Strong communication skills and a commitment to institutional representation are essential.

Qualified candidates must hold a relevant law degree (LLB or equivalent); a master’s degree in Law (LLM) is highly preferred; PhD holders will have an added advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a strong academic background with a focus on Public Law and/or Private Law. Prior teaching experience at the university level is required; experience in curriculum development and postgraduate supervision is desirable. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are mandatory. Candidates must be proficient in English and/or French, with fluency in Kinyarwanda being an added advantage. Familiarity with legal research methodologies and software tools is preferred.
