Project Accounts Officer II

The Project Accounts Officer II will be responsible for preparing, monitoring, and managing the project budget for the DIMENSION study, a digital mental health empowerment initiative in Tanzania. Key duties include maintaining accurate accounting records, processing payments with proper authorization, and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. The role requires ensuring compliance with donor regulations, organizational policies, and national financial regulations, while providing financial guidance to project staff on budgeting and expenditure. The position involves close collaboration with investigators and stakeholders to support the implementation of a stepped-wedge randomized controlled trial aimed at enhancing mental health care capacity in HIV clinics across Dar es Salaam and Mwanza. The role demands strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a commitment to excellence, efficiency, and teamwork.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration (Accountancy or Finance) from a recognised institution; Working experience in projects in a financial position for at least three years in a public research/academic or health institution; Demonstrated experience in efficiently managing financial transactions using electronic systems, e.g., MUSE; Demonstrated commitment to excellence, work efficiency, innovativeness, and teamwork in implementing project work; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to work independently and collaboratively with investigators and stakeholders
