Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET)

The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) will provide biomedical engineering support to Health Builders-supported health facilities in Rwamagana, Rulindo, Nyabihu, Kicukiro, and Bugesera districts. The primary responsibility is to prolong the lifecycle of equipment donated by Health Builders' partners, including the Gould Family Foundation (GFF) and DAK Foundation, by implementing biomedical maintenance plans. The role involves strengthening sustainable medical equipment management systems through technical assistance, capacity building of healthcare workers, documentation, reporting, and continuous quality improvement. The BMET will diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair medical equipment and systems, deliver first-line technical assistance, and escalate complex repairs to manufacturers, suppliers, or contracted service providers as needed. Additionally, the position requires detecting equipment and training gaps at supported facilities and recommending interventions, while advising management on procurement priorities based on equipment condition and facility needs. The BMET will work in collaboration with the Rwandan Ministry of Health and local governments to ensure high standards of healthcare delivery.

Diploma or degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; minimum of 2 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance and repair; proficiency in preventive and corrective maintenance of medical equipment; strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills; ability to train and mentor healthcare workers on equipment use and maintenance; familiarity with medical equipment management systems; excellent communication and documentation skills; willingness to travel to multiple districts as required.
