Deputy Project Director/Directeur de Projet Adjoint - Proposal

Work closely with project staff and partners to define, implement, and monitor the project's strategic approaches and work plan activities to improve ITN (Insecticide-Treated Nets) coverage and use, consistent with contract requirements. Ensure strong relationships with government counterparts and serve as a key project resource for key local stakeholders. Identify project technical assistance needs required to achieve expected results and develop appropriate scopes of work for recruitment and oversight of partners and consultants. Contribute to the development, review, and finalization of project documents, including work plans, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports, project assessments and evaluations, project briefs, presentations, and other knowledge management documentation. Serve as a mentor to junior staff and assist the leadership team in defining and implementing staff professional development plans. Participate in communities of practice and national working groups, ensuring lessons learned and evidence are used for program improvement.

A Masters Degree (or foreign equivalent) in public health or related discipline; medical or doctoral degree preferred; At least ten (10) years of professional experience working in development assistance projects in malaria prevention and treatment; Significant experience collaborating and developing partnerships with Ministries of Health/National Malaria Control Programs, international organizations, other bilateral donors and civil society representatives, senior level government officials, and/or other stakeholders on malaria-related initiatives in alignment with national strategic plans; Previous experience managing diverse teams and interacting with developing country governments; Demonstrated ability to work in complex, politically charged environments, and field experience working with humanitarian response and public health programming is highly desirable; Experience with PMI (President's Malaria Initiative) programming and policies preferred; Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, team management skills, leadership, and decision-making skills; Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong teams and relationships with host-country counterparts, stakeholders and other donors; Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills in French with native level fluency strongly preferred; Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; Experience in Africa and the DRC or other fragile or conflict-affected countries is preferred.
