Occupational Therapy

Assess patients' physical, cognitive, sensory, psychosocial, and functional abilities to determine their rehabilitation needs. Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific conditions and goals. Assist patients in regaining or improving independence in activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, bathing, feeding, and mobility. Provide specialized rehabilitation services for patients with neurological disorders, orthopedic injuries, pediatric conditions, or other disabling health challenges. Recommend and train patients in the use of assistive devices and adaptive equipment to enhance their functional capabilities. Educate patients, caregivers, and family members on effective rehabilitation techniques, home exercise programs, and long-term care strategies. Monitor patient progress through regular assessments and modify treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes. Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including initial assessments, treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, physiotherapists, nurses, speech therapists, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care. Ensure adherence to professional ethical standards, infection control protocols, and healthcare regulations in all therapeutic interventions.

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution; Valid professional license to practice occupational therapy in Rwanda; Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in occupational therapy; Proficiency in developing individualized treatment plans for diverse patient populations; Strong knowledge of assistional devices and adaptive equipment; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient education and team collaboration; Ability to maintain accurate patient records and documentation; Familiarity with neurological, orthopedic, and pediatric rehabilitation techniques; Commitment to ethical practice and patient-centered care; Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda (French is an asset); Registration with the Rwanda Allied Health Professionals Council (RAHPC) is required.
