Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Development Lead to join our team at JA Uganda Alum. The Development Lead will be responsible for driving our mission forward by leading fundraising initiatives, managing donor relationships, and developing innovative programs to empower young entrepreneurs in Uganda. Key Responsibilities: 1. **Fundraising Leadership:** - Lead the development and implementation of fundraising strategies to secure sustainable funding for JA Uganda Alum programs. - Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, including foundations, corporations, and individual philanthropists. - Prepare compelling grant proposals, reports, and presentations to secure funding. 2. **Program Development:** - Collaborate with program teams to design, develop, and implement high-impact entrepreneurship and financial literacy programs for youth. - Ensure programs align with JA Uganda Alum’s strategic goals and meet the needs of target beneficiaries. - Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making data-driven adjustments as needed. 3. **Stakeholder Engagement:** - Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, private sector partners, and community leaders. - Represent JA Uganda Alum at national and international forums, conferences, and networking events. - Engage with alumni networks to leverage their expertise and resources for organizational growth. 4. **Team Leadership:** - Provide mentorship and guidance to the development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. - Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of development staff. 5. **Financial Management:** - Develop and manage the annual development budget in alignment with organizational priorities. - Ensure transparent and responsible use of funds, adhering to donor requirements and compliance standards. 6. **Advocacy and Awareness:** - Lead advocacy efforts to raise awareness about the importance of youth entrepreneurship and financial literacy in Uganda. - Develop and disseminate communication materials, including reports, newsletters, and social media content, to highlight JA Uganda Alum’s impact. 7. **Reporting and Compliance:** - Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports to donors, board members, and regulatory bodies. - Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to fundraising and program implementation. Qualifications and Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage. - Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in fundraising, program development, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. - Proven track record of securing funding from diverse sources, including grants, corporate partnerships, and individual donations. - Strong understanding of the Ugandan development landscape, particularly in youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. - Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. - Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, build strategic partnerships, and drive organizational growth. - Experience working with NGOs, international organizations, or social enterprises is highly desirable. - Proficiency in English; knowledge of a local language is an asset. - Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management. Requirements
